NewStream Enterprises was awarded ISO 14001 environmental management certification for its locations in the Springfield, Missouri area this month.
This achievement is the culmination of a major internal program to integrate environmental aspects into the ISO 9001 quality management system already in place. As part of its ISO 14001 program, NewStream implemented environmentally responsible practices including recycling, continuing education, and community involvement. The move to ISO 14001 certification shows NewStream’s commitment to preserve the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling waste, as well as efficiently using energy.
The certification process is completed by a third party organization who certifies organizations to the ISO 14001 standard. Audits are performed to ensure that the organization’s environmental management system is developed from and conforms to the ISO 14001 standard. Company preparation for this audit is lengthy and can require 2,500 man hours and up to 1 year to write, develop and implement procedures.
