New Employee Spotlight: Emily Brown

  • Vivian Wheeler
  • July 9, 2026

We are very excited to announce that Emily Brown has joined NewStream Enterprises as a Sales Support Specialist. After graduating from Drury University, Emily spent more than 10 years working in sales and marketing in the hospitality industry in California and Colorado. When she moved back to Missouri 2 years ago, she began working in the non-profit and community building sector, most recently at Leadership Springfield.

We know Emily will be a huge asset to the team and canโ€™t wait to see what she accomplishes at NewStream. Click through to read a Q&A with her.

Provide a brief history of your work and educational history.

I graduated from Drury University. I’ve worked in hospitality sales and marketing for 10-plus years in California and Colorado, where I oversaw field marketing programs. When I relocated back to Missouri about 2 years ago, I began working in the non-profit and community building sector, most recently at Leadership Springfield.

Describe your new role.

I’m very much still learning but so far it seems to be a bit of herding cats. Just kidding but for real I am responsible for inputting and gathering information and doing work behind the scenes to help make everyone’s (customers, warehouse team, sales team, etc.) life a little easier.

Is there any work-related challenge or project youโ€™re particularly excited about? Or is there a new skill youโ€™re excited to learn?

I CANNOT wait to understand and be proficient in Realtime. Also, all the jargon, this industry uses more acronyms than words. I look forward to being able to keep up.

What is the best piece of advice youโ€™ve ever received?

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. โ€” Ernest Hemingway

What do you like to do in your free time?

When I’m not adulting, my partner and I like to ride motorcycles and go on weekend trips. We also spend time with our families, and I love to tackle a house project or mark something off the “to-do” list. (His least favorite thing to do in our free time.)

Whatโ€™s your guilty pleasure dessert?

Andy’s, specifically a tin-roof sundae. I’m told that really shows my age…. but it tastes like a Snickers.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

There would be signs. I would travel the world, buy ocean front property and shower my family and friends with gifts.

Whereโ€™s the number one place on your travel bucket list?

Norway to see the northern lights in person.

Do you have any nicknames?

This question feels like a trap. I used to have the nickname “UPS” because at the time the UPS slogan was “what can Brown do for you.” My last name is Brown, so obviously, it was so clever that it lingered long after UPS dropped the slogan. I also used to have the nickname, Easter Bunny. I would always bring my friends drinks or treats when we would hangout out and my initials are EB, so Easter Bunny was born. I hated it so of course it stuck. I beg of you, please don’t walk around calling me UPS or Easter Bunny.

Whatโ€™s a surprising or interesting fact about you?

I’ve never been trick-or-treating. It wasn’t something my family did, and by the time I could decide for myself I had aged out of the “acceptable” age bracket.

ย

Whatโ€™s a personal goal you have or are working towards?

I’m trying to read 24 books this year. I’ll read any genre of book, if it catches my interest.

ย

If you could have dinner with any three people (living or dead), who would they be?

Dolly Parton, Keanu Reeves, Mac Miller

Do you have any hidden talents?

I make bread, I’ve never ruined a loaf, I don’t know if that’s a talent or I’m just good at following instructions.
